Abstract
In the last fifteen years Central and Eastern European countries have established the legal conditions under which the Church and the State endeavor to secure the respect of the freedom of conscience and religion, as well as the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination on religious grounds. The lecture discusses the model of "cooperative" or "supportive" separation resulting from law and religion developments in the area. Special attention will be paid to the agreements stipulated by the Holy See with Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
